Hydro One Sault Ste. Marie LP (Hydro One SSM) formerly Great Lakes Power Limited - Transmission (GLPL) has developed a Customer Connection Process (CCP) Revised Oct 12, 2007 that was approved by the OEB Feb 12, 2008. If a load facility or generation facility is connecting a new facility or modify an existing facility connected to the Hydro One SSM transmission system, the Hydro one SSM CCP shall be followed.

The connection applicant should contact Hydro One SSM if it has any questions regarding where or how to connect to the Hydro One SSM transmission system or how to modify an existing facility or to discuss the Hydro One SSM CCP.

To start the Hydro One SSM CCP process the connection applicant should contact the IESO to determine if the IESO needs to undertake a System Impact Assessment (SIA) or Expedited System Impact Assessment (ESIA). There is information on the IESO web site – http://www.ieso.ca/Pages/Participate/Connection-Assessments/default.aspx which describes the IESO process. If a SIA or ESIA is required the customer shall complete the appropriate joint IESO/GLPT SIA Application which can be found on the IESO web site – http://www.ieso.ca/Pages/Participate/Connection-Assessments/System-Impact-Assessment.aspx.

If a SIA or ESIA is not required by the IESO then the connection applicant shall complete the Hydro One SSM Customer Connection Application form, located at the bottom of this page.

In both cases, Hydro One SSM will require the connection applicant to sign Agreements to cover Hydro One SSM costs associated with the IESO SIA and/or Hydro One SSM Customer Impact Assessment (CIA) (SIA/CIA Agreement) or estimate of Hydro One SSM work (Connection Estimate Agreement). Once the connection applicant has notified Hydro One SSM that the Hydro One SSM estimate is acceptable, the connection project will proceed. The connecting customer must then sign a Connection and Cost Recovery Agreement (CCRA) which details the work Hydro One SSM and the connection applicant shall undertake for the new or modified connection and allows Hydro One SSM to recover its costs as per the Transmission System Code (Code) which can be found on the OEB web site, link provided below and then scroll down to the section titled “Transmission System Code”.
