Hydro One Sault Ste. Marie owns 15 transmission stations with approximately 560 km of 44-kV to 230-kV transmission lines in Canada that comprise an integral component of Ontario’s provincial transmission system that interconnects Northern and Southern areas of the province.

We are seeking a qualified, motivated individual to assume the following position in our operations in the Sault Ste. Marie service area.

POSITION:  Service Desk Technician

WORK LOCATION:  Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario

Under the direction of the Manager of Information Technology and Security or delegate, the Service Desk Technician will perform a variety of Information Technology support tasks within the organization.  Key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following: desk side support in a Windows 7 and Windows 10 environment; office productivity application instruction and training; level 1 support for other systems such as GIS and ERP; updating of the intranet portal; and recording of these activities within a service desk ticketing system.  As the competence of the candidate is assessed other responsibilities may include system backup, server administration, and network administration.

As a candidate for this position you should possess the following: a diploma or degree in an Information Technology related field; while formal experience is not required, it would be an asset; experience dealing with customers; excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills; analytical and problem solving skills; the ability to manage multiple tasks and demands; exceptional computer skills; highly organized with a keen attention to detail; able to commit to an increased work volume on a periodic basis; ability to work both independently or as a member of a team; and maintain a valid Class “G” drivers license.
